Angie
Angie: Angel or Demon, it’s up to you…
Speaking of R&B, I could make you a list as long as my arm of French-speaking artists that are emerging now, but the one and only that I would talk you about first is, of course, Angie. This French singer decided to mix Rap and R&B, but still wanted to add a diversity of other music genres such as Pop, Dancehall, Zouk (French Caribbean), or even Soul.
And even though she’s confident, mesmerising, and fearless, she’s as capable of seducing me with pure « in your feelings » music than spitting perfect and unforgettable bars like the one she gave in her « FM4X » freestyle.
With her sassy baddie attitude, she is challenging the game by showing herself versatile and limitless in her featurings with many emerging and talented French R&B singers such as the soft and sweet Lafleyne with their jazzy and cozy « Chéri » or even « Rock The Boat » with the underrated Jeremiah, which sampled the iconic yet infamous Aaliyah’s single she gave in 2001.
Nevertheless, Angie’s thriving on her own with interesting singles such as « KISS? », that really made me curious about her music. Because the key of her seduction is mainly all about her choruses and hooks: electrifying and thrilling like her perfect : « Le Choix » from her sophomore EP « L’Amoroso », released in 2023, which captures the vibe of 2010’s pop hits.
She’s progressively becoming part of the female singers to keep an eye on in this music scene, that are embodying this unapologetic and charismatic energy like others are portraying such as Theodora, Shay, Kay the Prodigy or even Lazuli with whom she released in 2023 a joint album called « ANGILINAZULI ».
So, if you’re not used to listening to R&B in anything other than English, but you’re still curious to discover other artists, Angie is the right fit. Because music has no language, and she certainly knows how to set the vibe through her songs.
